Aquarius

Aquarius is the fixed air sign. The symbol for Aquarius is the water bearer. Its horoscope glyph depicts waves of water or electricity.

The water in the water bearer symbols actually repesents ideas flowing like water. Aquarius is an air sign, and like Gemini it also deals with ideas and thoughts. But unlike Gemini, the Aquarian ideas have a larger picture, they work toward a grand scheme or the perfect theory.

There is a sense of idealism or perfectionism inherent in the Aquarian thought process, and it often directed toward people and social causes. Big social changes occur as a result of Aquarian planning.

Aquarians work toward equality and fairness. In this they are similar to their Libran air sign cousins, but there is one difference. Libra deals with individuals, while Aquarius deals with groups and masses. Because they are predisposed to fairness, Aquarians are dispassionate and objective, distancing themselves just enough from issues (and people) so they can think with a clear head.

Being a fixed sign, Aquarius can be quite stubborn-once they resonate with an idea or build a plan, they will stick to it come what may. The rationality that drew them to the idea now turns to uncompromising belief. They take a stand.

Aquarian ideas often tend to be avant garde and progressive, which might often go against the grain. There is often a sense of newness, and the ideas just seem different than what’s gone before.

The ideas also gravitate toward the abstract, theories spun in the head that might not pan out quite so weell in the “real” world. You might say Aquarians are idea puritans, who are loath to sully their plans with impure compromises and adjustments that might be needed for expediency.

Aquarius, with its eye on the masses, can be quite the humanitarian, fighting for equal rights and fair distribution of resources. This deep inner attunement to fairness also applies in one-on-one relationships – Aquarians are truly blind to status, ethnicity, color, etc. when it comes to relating with others. In this sense, they are genuinely friendly.

In social interactions, Aquarians are all about live and let live, non-judgmental and non-intrusive. They are, truly, citizens of the world.
